Star Wars: Lando TV program cancelled due to an independent film
There is a rumor that Donald Glover’s role as the character of the space character Lando Calrissian has been to be a big-screen hit. According to the most recent reports it appears that the Lando project has made an 180.
The first time news broke about Glover being back in his Star Wars role and we were hoping for a major screen-based release that would be in line with the series of films produced by Lucasfilm. A few months later, further on we learned that Lando will be a TV show and debut at Disney+, as so numerous new Star Wars projects have. Similar to the today’s Star Wars obsession, Ahsoka.
In the “Pablo Discovers Out podcast Stephen Glover discussed the future of the Lando project that starred his brother. It appears that the show is not a reality show anymore and will be screened in the cinemas.
The role of Glover as an adolescent Lando Calrissian’s character first came to light in the 2017 movie Solo that followed the story of a young Han Solo through his life until he met an uninvolved Jedi and smart mouthed princess. The film was not able to open with the acclaim expected and fans were hoping for more from Glover’s stunning performance.
In the month of April, 2023 Donald Glover did tease fans at times in the course of his interview when Lando was featured in an interview with GQ magazine. The interviewer said “We’re discussing the topic. This is all I’m able to say and not have Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down.”
Stephen Glover dropped this galactic blast of news, “It’s not even a production… The idea at the moment is to create an actual film. At the moment, due to strikes.”
It’s sad to say that this was the most important information that was gleaned from the discussion. Star Wars fans can keep waiting for news to leak out like the gossip that is spilled out in the cantina once strike between writers and actors is settled.
