Need For Speedhas transformed into an Need For Help after news that game developers have been dragged off the project to be focusing on Battlefield.

Criterion The British studio that is best known for its Need for Speed and Burnout franchises, has disclosed that it’s shifting its focus towards the EA Battlefield series. As a support studio to DICE, Criterion will now aid in the development of Battlefield 2042with the “core set” of developers remaining for the ongoing development of Need for Speed.

It is good to know that this shift in course isn’t likely to cause no redundancies. This is good news following the departure of five long-standing, senior Criterion employees left the studio in the month of December in 2022. The studio’s general manager was Matt Webster who left after an extended period of 23 years.

In a press release issued in a statement issued by the Respawn the CEO Vince Zampella, he expressed enthusiasm for the team which will think about the direction of Battlefield.

“I’m happy to see a studio that has this kind of experience to join my studios that I manage,” Zampella announced. “As we’ve stated before that we’re fully committed to Battlefield. This morning, Criterion is added to our top-of-the-line Battlefield studios that are devoted to bringing in a brand new phase for the Battlefield game’s franchise.

“The majority of our team will work alongside DICE, Ripple Effect, and Ridgeline who are managed by Byron Beede, GM of Battlefield. Criterion’s previous experience working with Battlefield as well as our tech and developing engaging experiences will make immediate impact on the game while we are working with Ripple Effect and Ridgeline on Battlefield 2042 and we work on pre-production of the connected Battlefield Universe. The best studio to be part of this adventure and I could not be happier.”

In light of the information, Criterion will become a part of EA Entertainment instead of EA Sports. Fans of Need for Speed should not be concerned because the “core group” that was left will continue to working on the show. But, with the most recent installment of Need for Speed Unbound Need for Speed Unboundreleasing on December 31 and the possibility of some time before we know the next installment.

This is assuming that the rumours about the possibility of an open-world sequel are believed to be true.
