Microsoft no longer considers “Satan Farted” acceptable gamertag on Xbox consoles, prompting gamer to choose new gaming handle.
At one time, creating an amusing gamertag was all part of the entertainment, yet Microsoft seems to think otherwise by telling one Xbox user they must change theirs.
One Reddit post uploaded to r/XboxSeriesX by one user revealed they received an alert from Microsoft telling them their gamertag, ‘Satan Farted’ is no longer permitted and must change; which led other Redditors sharing recommendations as to which new gamertag they should choose. This may sound reasonable in most circumstances – yet one user had maintained its use since 2007!
Microsoft is taking an understandable stance against inappropriate gamertags as they deal with edge lords who only find fulfillment online by spreading hate speech and insults against other groups and religions. One comment states “Claim that Satan had gastric problems is no longer cool”, whilst others speculate as to whether Microsoft’s issue lies with either word “Satan” or Farted and one user believes this might even be due to having outgrown childlike attitudes (because you’re no longer 12!). Naturally this situation has caused considerable debate on Reddit!
Xbox gamertags must consist of no more than 12 characters including spaces and must not begin with numbers, according to one user. One claimed this limit used to be 15 but this has since changed as soon as PC Game Pass launched – “to accommodate those new users they changed it so you could pick any name now but if it already existed you got random numbers at the end; in order to keep within this old 15 character limit new gamertags must be shorter”. As they explained it.
Satan Farted’s response to Microsoft’s ruling remains uncertain for now; until then, they must put on their thinking cap and come up with an adequate response.
