New PlayStation 5 hardware unveiled
New PlayStation 5 controllers will soon arrive with plans to address one of its more prevalent problems.
Sony has always done well when it comes to controller design for its PlayStation consoles – from PlayStation 1 all the way up to PS4, with only minor variations between models.
Sony recently became famous for equipping its controllers with innovative features like haptic feedback, built-in speakers and lights to show what was happening during gameplay. Microsoft took notice, as evidenced by them releasing a dualSense-inspired Xbox controller next year alongside their Series X console.
Stick drift has become an increasing problem with modern controllers, particularly PlayStation ones, in recent years. But worry not: an all-new PS5 controller should remedy that soon enough! Apparently it will completely resolve it!
Sony is officially licensing the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro controller to be sold, with pricing matching that of PS5 DualSense Edge in Europe at EUR229.90; we don’t yet know whether or when the controller may become available stateside.
It features over 60 customisation options, giving users access to swap buttons, triggers, sticks etc. as needed. Furthermore, its 10-hour battery life and “magnetic technology” to eliminate stick drift could prove transformative for fans who find their controllers being regularly repaired/replaced by shops.
Although being sold as compatible with PlayStation 5 and 4 consoles, this controller also works with PC. Plans exist for its integration into mobile devices in 2024.
The Nacon Revolution 5 Pro controller appears to be an appealing option for gamers looking for quality controllers at a lower cost than an official PlayStation One, or those seeking something designed with durability in mind.
No specific release date has yet been given; however, pre-orders indicate sometime within October as when this controller should arrive on store shelves.
