Cities: Skylines 2 Delay to Next Year on Consoles

Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order have decided to postpone the console version of Cities: Skylines 2 until next year.

Cities: Skylines 2 will now likely launch for both Xbox Series X/S and PS5 sometime during spring 2024.

“Our hardworking staff has been hard at work preparing the game for its release on October 24th,” according to a statement issued by its publisher.

“Throughout, we have determined that additional time is required to achieve the quality targets set. With an aim towards providing players with an exceptional experience, Xbox and PS5 releases will now take place during Spring 2024 so as to enable us to ensure matching quality and performance across platforms.”

Further updates regarding Cities: Skylines II’s console release date will be shared “soon.”

PC players won’t be affected by this decision and remain on track for launch on October 24, 2023 as originally planned; minimum and recommended system requirements have, however, been updated accordingly.

Though its delay will no doubt disappoint those hoping to purchase Cities: Skylines II on Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5, hopefully it means when it does launch next year without optimization issues or compatibility problems.
