Paradox Interactive Plans to Launch First-person Factory Building Game Foundry

Today, Paradox Interactive and Channel 3 Entertainment jointly announced their publishing partnership for forthcoming first-person factory building game Foundry.
Foundry allows us to explore procedurally generated worlds using voxels, and create factories capable of fulfilling increasingly complicated tasks.

Play begins as we manually mine and process resources before creating our first pieces of machinery.

As our technologies advance, they will eventually enable us to automate entire production lines.

“We will also encounter various logistic challenges related to expanding [our] production lines as [we create our] own massive, automated factory.”

Foundry has been described as the ideal combination of grid-based construction games and factory building simulation, making it suitable for play either solo or with friends.

As there are currently no restrictions placed upon how many players can join online and offline (via LAN) multiplayer sessions, 2-4 is considered ideal by the developer.

“We were thrilled by the overwhelming positive reaction received during the Foundry Alpha on Itch.io,” stated Patrik Meder, Vice-President at Channel 3 Entertainment.

“To maximize this potential, collaboration was critical and Paradox Interactive allowed us to achieve our dreams for Foundry.”

Foundry will soon make its debut on PC, yet does not yet have an exact release date. A demo version will be made available during Steam Next Fest between October 9-16.

As we anxiously anticipate its release, this trailer provides us with a glimpse of what to expect, while its Steam page provides additional details and screenshots.

Paradox has recently unveiled Milennia, a turn-based strategy game intended to rival Civilization for popularity among PC gamers.
