God Of War’s live action series already boasts the ideal Kratos in Kratos Mothra.
As soon as Amazon unveiled their announcement that they are adapting the God of War series into a television adaptation, speculation began regarding who should portray Kratos – with plenty of enthusiastic candidates willing to portray this iconic Spartan warrior already eagerly signing on as Kratos himself! Luckily enough, however, that person already exists and ready and waiting.
Last May saw Sony unveil two of its IPs for adaptation into films – God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn. Analyst David Gibson shared news that Netflix would pick up Horizon, with Amazon picking up God of War. Unfortunately there has yet to be any release dates announced but we do know one actor that would happily play Kratos.
Since God of War first launched in 2005, Kratos has become one of the most recognisable video game characters. First portrayed by Terrence C Carson from 2005-13 before Christopher Judge took up the mantle for both remakes (2018 and Ragnarok). Judge has taken pleasure in playing Kratos so much that he recently confirmed he will also portray Kratos in any live-action adaptations!
Judge has since responded positively to an individual who suggested the actor himself should assume the role as opposed to hiring WWE fighters such as Triple H or Braun Strowman as potential choices – with Judge replying with, “Co-sign”.
Video game adaptations like HBO’s The Last of Us have successfully cast its main characters with new actors despite initial backlash, although casting original voice actors may also prove beneficial; I would love to see Judge reprise his role as Kratos; hopefully sooner rather than later!
