Scorn has finally jumped onto PlayStation 5 after its Xbox console exclusive period has come to a close.

Ebb Software’s Scorn is a mature first-person horror title inspired by the artworks of H.R. Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski. Not for those easily disturbed, Scorn features many sexualized environments and enemies which will unnerve even those used to the Alien movies by 20th Century Studios; perhaps some familiarity will suffice when discussing its visual design.

Scorn was initially released for PC and Xbox Series X|S on 14 October 2022. Though not widely received by fans, curious PlayStation 5 gamers wanted a chance at this unorthodox RTS experience. Now, they finally can get their chance to try Scorn themselves.

According to its synopsis, scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in an otherworldly universe filled with strange forms and dark tapestries. “Designed around being “thrown into the world,” as an isolated individual lost inside this dreamlike environment, you will explore different interlinked regions nonlinearly.”

Game Rant reports that, unfortunately, there’s no mention of Scorn being enhanced to take full advantage of PS5’s 3D audio capabilities in its description on PlayStation Store – something which would surely disappoint fans who like enhancing immersion through gaming headsets with this title. If true, this would be unfortunate as Scorn would surely provide plenty of entertainment value with such an added dimension of immersion!

On Metacritic, Scorn earned relatively even scores from critics and users – 70 from critics and 6.7 from users, respectively – for its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass. Based on my personal experience, this game can either appeal to fans of its genre or cause discomfort; hence, its inclusion was perfect for Xbox Game Pass at that time, though no plans currently exist for Scorn to make an appearance on PlayStation Plus (but that could change).

Scorn was reviewed: “Fans of haunting atmospheres and H. R. Giger-inspired aesthetics will want to keep an eye out for this one, provided you possess enough emotional resilience.”

Scorn can now be found across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
