Call of Duty franchise Modern Warfare 3 marks its 20th Anniversary! In celebration, Sledgehammer Games remastered all 16 launch maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2, taking players down memory lane with this nostalgic experience.
As we inch closer to Call of Duty Next’s launch event, many anxiously await its beta and learn whether Sledgehammer Games can deliver another dose of fast-paced action.
While all eyes are focused on Modern Warfare 3’s initial launch for players to access it, Activision has already laid plans for future Call of Duty titles through 2027.
Call of Duty titles scheduled to launch through 2027 In an exclusive Venture Beat interview, Rob Kostich from Activision put any doubts regarding Call of Duty’s future to bed.
Kostich made this announcement: Activision has games planned out through 2027 for those we are developing.” Furthermore, work for four Call of Duty titles is already underway. Over three thousand developers actively contribute their skillset to make Call of Duty an immensely popular first-person shooter series.
As for future Call of Duty titles, Kostich was tight-lipped about any specific details regarding these but remains confident the future looks bright for this franchise: “We made many games over time; at some points in development, they may not resonate as strongly with fans, but you tend to discover which ones do resonate and resonate best over time. ”
So there is still hope of Modern Warfare and Black Ops continuing beyond 2019, although we must wait for official announcements by Activision before making our judgments.
