Dead by Daylight announces new ghost-themed event
Dead by Daylight players have long looked forward to Halloween as an annual tradition in its deadly realms, where players collect strange sap from even stranger plants while collecting status effects through pumpkin stomping and working through special Tomes in search of exclusive cosmetics. This year is no different – with players gathering evil sap from even weirder plants while collecting an assortment of disgusting materials such as deadly sap on these seasonal holidays, collecting unusual-looking pumpkins with status effects when stomped upon, and working through unique Tomes for exclusive cosmetics!
One of the more exciting parts of each Halloween is seeing previously deactivated items re-enabled again, like Will O’ Wisp flashlights, All Hallows’ Eve lunchboxes, and Blight Serums being revived, giving gameplay its festive spirit during the Halloween season. Furthermore, Offerings allow survivors and killers to gain greater access to event generators and hooks, increasing blood point gains for more significant gains overall.
Dead by Daylight has recently unveiled an eye-catching teaser of their Halloween 2023 event dubbed Haunted by Daylight, which promises an exceptional three week gaming experience for players. I am beginning October 18th and running for three weeks.
Dead by Daylight Haunted by Daylight event 2023 Published to YouTube on October 3rd, 2023, this short trailer shows Dwight from Dead by Daylight becoming possessed by an unseen ghost character never seen before. As Dwight is being taken over, a crackling hook emits blue light from it while blue energy shows potential changes to game maps in its wake.
Commenters were quick to express their joy for this bold and innovative move; one says it was a “daring and innovative move to switch it up by choosing blue instead of the traditional orange.” Others expressed amusement at seeing their characters becoming infested with spirits – with some considering whether the event’s theme might indicate who may become future killers as it indicates their abilities.
The thumbnail’s imagery is noteworthy: two creepy figures floating through a blue mass could be an indicator. Survivors have become used to running from Killers; having blue tornados to avoid would undoubtedly heighten tension for survivors, while killers might use this tool for an added speed boost similar to pumpkins used by previous years’ killers.
Naturally, speculation turned towards potential crossovers between Dwight’s eyes and those from Death Note’s Ryuk. Dead by Daylight had previously collaborated with Attack on Titan for various Killer and Survivor cosmetics releases, so any possibilities exist here too.
Haunted by Daylight is bound to create excitement among players as they embrace Halloween with open arms! All platforms will make their debut on October 18th.
