Fans of Assassin’s Creed Mirage agree the map size is perfect.
Fans have taken to sharing their opinions of Ubisoft’s latest installment to the long-running series Assassin’s Creed Mirage since its launch earlier this week, though reactions vary considerably from reviewers. One thing they agree upon though: Mirage features a map which fits just perfectly!
Assassin’s Creed Mirage has already received praise as “a welcome return to form” and the best game since Syndicate, with many calling it an instant classic. Ubisoft have focused heavily on creating an epic map in Anbar in ninth century Baghdad which draws praise for its use of space compared to most recent titles Valhalla or Odyssey which featured epic maps as story settings; thus making this latest instalment feel familiarly intimate once more.
“AC Mirage’s map size is ideal,” wrote one fan on r/AssassinsCreed. The city of Baghdad offers plenty of ways to explore buildings while its lively streets teem with life and energy – not to mention all of the outer villages and wilderness regions!
“Assassin’s Creed Mirage features a significantly smaller map compared to past entries”, wrote Sam Cawley in our review of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, while still covering plenty of territory on foot or riding horseback.
With AC: Unity taking an approach rooted in both stealth and parkour gameplay, its latest installment naturally takes place mostly within urban settings. One Reddit user commented, stating their love of Mirage’s map size. They suggested they want something similar but with improved parkour — “I adore Mirage’s map size and how densely packed its buildings feel between buildings!” They would love them to continue this formula and refine its parkour further for something as fluid and seamless as Unity.
