Yes, both digital and regular PlayStation 5 consoles will soon receive an aesthetic overhaul and specs upgrade. Don’t expect anything revolutionary here though; this update doesn’t encompass features associated with PS5 Pro or Slim titles; rather it simply brings new look redesigned PlayStation 5. As leaked reports showed us earlier, Sony now only needs one base console, meaning when disc drives need replacing you simply detach one side plate to click onto your console for easy disc tray use.
Redesigned PlayStation 5s boast more than just an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive that stands out. They now include 1TB SSD to boost internal storage. Weight and volume reduction has also taken place; volume has decreased by 30% while weight has fallen 18-24% compared to prior models; additionally the top half now sports a glossy finish while bottom halves of panels remain matte for enhanced visuals.
Sony will begin selling the PS5 successor console starting November in the United States and rolling it out globally throughout subsequent months. While existing stocks of existing PS5 model remain, so those wanting its original look should act fast to purchase.
Purchase of the new console with Ultra HD Blu-ray drive included is expected to set you back 499.99 USD / 549.99 EUR / 479.99 GBP / 66,980 JPY; buying only digital version costs 449.99 USD / 449.99 EUR / 389.99 GBP / 59,980 JPY and can add it later if desired for 79.99 USD / 119.99 EUR / 99.99 GBP or 11,980 JPY as add on cost alone.
This new console will come standard with a horizontal stand; to stand it vertically will require additional purchase of an upright stand that costs 29.99 USD / 29.99 EUR / 24.99 GBP / 3,980 JPY separately.
