Batman: Arkham Knight remains one of the iconic games from recent memory.
The Batman Arkham series of video games is widely considered one of the finest depictions of comic book properties ever attempted in video gaming, serving as an early benchmark before Marvel’s Spider-Man was released.
Arkham Knight made waves recently on Reddit when its legendary status was brought up, prompting one Reddit user, u/Finn_Flame, to comment: “Crazy how Arkham Knight still holds up right to this day. Legendary game.” They weren’t wrong: its dark atmosphere mixed with fantastic action can put many modern games to shame!
Reddit thread prompted plenty of responses both supporting the game as well as fans wanting more Batman. Many users agree it’s an amazing title but pointed out performance issues on release as “really ruin[ing] it for many people I think but overall great game.” One user specifically enjoyed Mr Freeze DLC citing it one of their “favourite gaming experiences of all time”.
As it has only been out for eight years, Arkham City stands the test of time well. Graphical improvements and game mechanic upgrades ensure its relevance today – plenty of fans want Rocksteady (developer of Arkham trilogy) back after Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has come out, since Rocksteady’s other DC titles have seen massive success – yet nothing seems set in stone at present for Arkham.
Redditors eager to see their favourite iteration of Batman take part in gaming are desperate to see this idea become reality and are hoping that Rocksteady would “create a Batman: Beyond game.” Their goal would be “an even grittier and darker take” of Batman when wearing his Beyond suit – something Redditor Nawt_ has responded to by not tapping into Batman Beyond franchise franchise and creating more games based around that world.
