PlayStation 5 free game is “ridiculously entertaining”, no PS Plus subscription necessary
Astro’s Playroom comes included with every PlayStation 5 console to showcase both the DualSense controller and the visual features of this stunning console.
Astro’s Playroom was my introduction to PS5, and its beauty convinced me of my decision. A truly breathtaking and lavish game, Astro’s Playroom showcases DualSense technology to incredible effect in this immersive game experience. Not surprisingly, many have begun discussing its brilliance on Reddit since I began playing it!
Astro’s PlayRoom takes players through different worlds that each showcase a feature of DualSense controller or console feature like SSD storage.
Recently u/MattP1540 opened up a Reddit thread about Astro’s Playroom as “ridiculously fun”, exploring its DualSense use by other developers and how the DualSense can best be applied by them. His original post likens Astro’s Playroom to Super Mario Odyssey combined with nostalgia from PlayStation history while offering both easy three-dimensional platforming gameplay as well as ample opportunities to recall PlayStation history through nostalgia-inducing experiences like Super Mario Odyssey does.
One user, speaking for us all, posted: “We need a full 10 hour Astro platformer!” and was met by many responses stating their favorite memory from Astro such as: u/ZooNeiland who commented about “ice skating through DualSense being so satisfying” or quoting lyrics from SSD song that became an earworm or saying something along those lines; or saying things such as: u/TheJoshider10 said Astro should become another PS icon icon”.
It seems the original poster has many ideas for how the DualSense could be utilized in other games; Baldur’s Gate 3 could use dice rolling by swiping or “using edge lights on controller as part of puzzle solving mechanic”. While other titles utilise controller functions well, none do it quite so effectively as Astro’s Playroom does.
