After spending my weekend immersed in Spider-Man, it can be tough to adjust back into reality. While I miss booting up my PlayStation 5 and catapulting around New York City with him, players playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 4 may welcome this respite from playtime.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 may be available exclusively on PlayStation 5, yet that hasn’t stopped some players from trying to run it on PlayStation 4s despite knowing full well it would likely cause damage. Boasting stunning visuals, astonishing ray tracing effects, and smooth performance characteristics that set itself apart as one of 2023 AAA releases, Marvel’s Spider-Man II stands as an excellent example for these type of players to try playing; nevertheless one even managed to ‘run’ their title without issue on PS4.

Twitter user Daniel Hoang took to the platform to document his experience fighting Sandman in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PlayStation 4. What should have been an epic boss fight quickly became problematic when the PlayStation began stuttering, making it impossible to follow what was going on and leading him straight towards death (not necessarily for Peter), as well as possible damage being done to its PS4 (I can almost hear its struggle from here!). While all this led to some humorous memes in comments; one user stated “Play has limits, bro.”

However, according to DiscordantDiver, play has no limits when using “a screwdriver.” We can only speculate as to how they managed to get Insomniac’s title running on PS4, though such measures should never be repeated if one values their sanity or fire safety.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 quickly become PlayStation’s fastest selling videogame ever, making its release all the more desired by players everywhere. Our very own Ewan Moore found Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to be “an amazing fantasy”, leaving him “grinning from ear-to-ear”, thanks to Insomniac Games crafting another engaging Spider-Man story brimming with twists, turns and show-stopping spectacle he wrote in his review of it: “While I may wish Insomniac had taken more risks with its open world formula (such as taking more risks in risky battle scenes with my enemy), these concerns become difficult when diving off Empire State Building rooftop and firing web lines at last second before swinging away in search of opponents with whom to kick”.
