Since discovering Spirited Away’s captivating magic, my dream has been to own my very own bathhouse for spirits. Although this may sound impossible at times, thanks to one of Steam’s free demos my dreams can now become digital realities – finally fulfilling one of my greatest wishes!

Spirittea, soon-to-be released RPG and life simulator rendered beautifully in pixel art, instantly brings up memories of Stardew Valley or Octopath Traveller II which amps up its appeal among gamers like myself. But unlike those titles, Spirittea does more than simply recreate an existing narrative; its characters include adorable spirits that need our assistance – something Stardew Valley can’t offer!

Studio Ghibli-inspired graphics give off positive vibes, giving the game another big win before its even released. Furthermore, its soft furnishings provide comfort – an important aspect for any immersive, relaxing game like this one.

This year has been especially wonderful for cosy gamers, thanks to Fae Farm, Moonstone Island, Sea of Stars, Dave the Diver, and Planet of Lana; none are sim titles but all deliver that warm glow that only the purist and genuine cosy titles can elicit – as attested by myself as queen of cozy games (I recently reviewed Moonstone Island for GAMINGbible with excitement – though unfortunately leaving me wanting for more.) One such title that did manage it successfully for me is Moonstone Island which I recently reviewed for GAMINGbible with enthusiasm but unfortunately left me craving even more; unfortunately for gamers!

Now I see that Spirittea can fulfill that appetite of mine for good-quality videogames. While disappointment could ensue, from what I have seen so far of both trailers and free demos so far I highly doubt it; delicious foods, cuddly spirits, decorations galore – it has everything needed to meet the high standards I hold of such experiences!

Spirittea will launch across Nintendo Switch, Steam, Xbox and PlayStation on 13 November as an actual product. However, its demo can already be found online now.
