The Elder Scrolls series has long been revered as one of the premier fantasy RPG titles available, so fans around the globe are surely excited for our next step into Tamriel and what awaits us there.

Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI during E3 2018, yet over five years have since passed and we still know nothing official about the game, other than what we saw from an early teaser trailer in 2018. Since that point we’ve not had any gameplay footage or an announcement regarding its release.

Microsoft recently completed their $7.5 billion takeover of Bethesda parent ZeniMax Media and it appears likely that The Elder Scrolls VI will only ever release on PC and Xbox Series X|S; unfortunately not on PlayStation 5. As for its exact arrival date and time frame, no one knows when exactly this might occur; one developer however made a unique educated prediction as to how Bethesda may reveal future episodes in The Elder Scrolls VI in coming months.

Bruce Nesmith was speaking on YouTube channel MinnMax during an interview. As lead designer on Skyrim for Bethesda before leaving in 2021, Bruce believes we may hear of The Elder Scrolls VI only six months prior to launch; similar to when Bethesda announced Fallout 4 at E3 2015. (Reference – it launched five months after it was first revealed). Fallout 4 launched 10 November 2015.

“Tale of Two Companies was hit for not talking more openly about The Elder Scrolls VI for years; an opinion which I share,” Nesmith noted, is that video gaming industry “has short memories.” Companies which begin touting their games too soon can be doomed, instead the best time is six months prior to release.”

Given that The Elder Scrolls VI was announced over five years ago, and has already seen its six-month window pass by now, Nesmith provided insight on how Bethesda should handle revealing the highly anticipated fantasy RPG next time around.

“Todd was moved by all the protestors’ pitchforks and torches to announce, ‘Yes, we are planning The Elder Scrolls VI. It will happen! But you won’t hear much about its details until six months before, which I believe to be appropriate,” according to him. I believe he’s proven this strategy works very effectively at Bethesda.

No word yet on when or if The Elder Scrolls VI will receive its next reveal; but, whenever that momentous event does come about, let’s hope the release date won’t be too far behind!
