GTA VI could potentially come out for consoles beyond PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S models – as if we didn’t already find it hard enough imagining its launch!

Rockstar first officially confirmed GTA VI back in early August; since then we’ve heard nothing else official regarding its development; though leaks from September have given way to various unofficial details online. At this stage we know it will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms but speculation suggests there could be additional platforms included as part of its release plan.

Reports indicate GTA VI may release around April 2024 – as per GamesIndustry.biz reports – although we also know it should run on PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X Pro consoles should they come out before its planned launch.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick was recently asked whether he anticipates another round of hardware before this console generation ends, to which he replied in the affirmative while noting it wouldn’t “affect their business very much”. Clearly this indicates they’re prepared for any potential new hardware that comes their way.

Leaks suggest the PlayStation 5 Pro console could hit stores by 2024. We expect enhanced Xbox Series models may follow soon after as part of a mid-generation hardware refresh plan, coinciding with GTA VI’s release alongside these enhanced consoles – not that GTA VI would become unplayable on standard PS5s or Xbox Series ones but with superior hardware likely providing some added advantages over regular versions of both these consoles.
