The Witcher remake will feature an open world RPG.
Remaking of The Witcher may bring with it one major difference: CD Projekt Red has announced plans to change it into more open world environment than was present in its initial iteration, making a dramatic step back into history for fans who played that version first time round.
Given The Witcher 3’s worldwide recognition and success as both game and Netflix series, emulating some features would only serve to create more fans for both projects. Based on Andrej Sapkowski’s books about Geralt of Rivia slaying beasts worldwide.
CD Projekt Red have long been working on an updated remake of 2007 title The Witcher. Recently, evidence of their remake surfaced during an investor presentation where its name appeared as part of an investor slide featuring its title font while being described as an open world RPG with story components.
This doesn’t provide much detail, but does indicate a shift from 2007’s game. While that version offered large expanses for exploration within its smaller world, CD Projekt Red may follow in the footsteps of Final Fantasy 7 Remake by expanding on what players saw previously rather than rigidly adhering to what players experienced initially. We could end up witnessing very different scenes and moments as players discover all new surprises within its confines.
As yet, no information regarding release or other details are known; hopefully more will come our way in 2019, possibly via a short trailer showing how it has transitioned. Furthermore, we should discover whether CD Projekt Red decided to remake both games simultaneously or just one.
