Overwatch unveiled its inaugural non-binary hero.

Today’s entertainment must include everyone. Be it movies, shows or video games; finding relatable characters should never be far behind!

No matter our view on Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch series, characters like Baptiste, Lifeweaver, Pharah Soldier 76 and Tracer have shown great promise as LGBTQIA characters, leading the charge against oppression – now joined by non-binary hero as part of this lineage!

As noticed by The Gamer, Ana Martinez confirmed this news with tweets featuring artwork for two new heroes – Venture and Space Ranger – following their Blizzcon 2023 unveiling weekend. Both of the newly revealed characters were said to be close and dear to Ana’s heart and she promised that more would be revealed about them soon.

Response to Ana Martinez’s tweet, one Twitter follower asked what the pronouns for Venture are; Ana responded they/them; Venture hails from Canaidan and is thought to be an archeologist with an unquenchable thirst for past treasures and hidden secrets, according to lead concept artist Darly Tan.

New maps and modes were announced, too – Hanaoka being named the new map, while Clash being its mode. Unfortunately, no details exist at present about these two offerings other than that they will both take their inspiration from assault map Hanamura but take place within “new section.” Clash mode requires opposing teams to complete five objectives before winning victory – details on these maps remain vague for now.

Overwatch 2 is now free-to-play across PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch platforms and will feature two brand new characters, maps and modes when released sometime during 2024.
