Assassin’s Creed Mirage may have passed us by but don’t be too disheartened if you already completed his latest adventure: don’t fret: Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will soon arrive with an iconic real life samurai as its protagonist!

Codename Red is currently an unannounced game without an official name or release date, yet is expected to arrive as the last installment in Assassin’s Creed’s RPG series in 2024. Players will take place in feudal Japan – something many fans have long desired visiting – where concept art recently leaked online leading fans to wonder whether we may receive updates soon, perhaps at The Game Awards? We had also previously heard that Codename Red will feature both samurais and shinobis; with one possibly being inspired by real life figures Yasuke; more details have now come about who appears.

Back in July, Insider Gaming leaked that their new game would feature two characters- one male samurai and a female shinobi- with the former coming from Africa as refugees and one resident of Reddit asked, ‘Could It be Yasuke?’ Believed to have originated in Mozambique, Yasuke served as weapon-bearer and retainer to Oda Nobunaga who later served as daimyo (feudal lord). Insider Gaming have confirmed this idea by publicly commenting on it now believing this as fact!

Insider Gaming recently reported their understanding that Yasuke, though real in life, may have had his story altered to fit with that of the videogame. Although Yasuke existed, many stories involving him may be embellished accounts that do not accurately represent him.

Insider Gaming confirmed the rumor of Naoe Fujibayashi being the female protagonist – she would be daughter of real-life Fujibayashu Nagato who led Iga ninjas during 16th century Iga province ninja wars. While Yasuke and Naoe will likely initially begin as enemies they may come together later as allies fighting to unify Japan together.

Insider Gaming noted that they do not know if Yasuke will change her name in the final release; should this occur, this could turn out to be one of the greatest Assassin’s Creed titles ever!
