PlayStation Plus subscribers don’t bother downloading new free games as part of the service.
PlayStation Plus provides subscribers with access to an incredible selection of titles across several genres. No matter what tier they subscribe to, their selections won’t disappoint!
However, no matter whether or not you subscribe to PS Plus Essential, Extra, or Premium plans, subscribers cannot always count on amazing titles every month and it appears this may have been the case with certain subscribers of November 2023 PS Plus offerings.
On 1 November, Sony revealed this month’s PS Plus Essential titles – with mixed reactions among many customers. Let’s be clear here – there wasn’t an overwhelming positive reception to these titles being included as PlayStation Plus Essential titles this month; to put it bluntly they just aren’t that impressive or engaging enough; though what someone may like or not may depend on individual taste.
Recent releases for 3DS include Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Dragon Ball: The Breakers and Mafia II: Definitive Edition. Aliens: Fireteam Elite is an average three-play co-op shooter based on Alien 3’s movie franchise that takes place two decades post Alien 3, according to Metacritic scores; not bad but not amazing either! On Metacritic it scored an acceptable 67 rating; definitely not poor but not exceptional either!
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is an asymmetrical multiplayer game, but that alone doesn’t seem to be its issue; according to its fan base it appears poorly executed asymmetry games trying to capitalize on Dead by Daylight hype were its Achilles heel; with only 54 scoring on Metacritic on PS4.
Mafia II: Definitive Edition was initially released back in 2010, yet unfortunately was met with minimal effort and bugs at launch, much to my chagrin since I enjoyed the original game so much when released back then. For reference purposes, however, this latest installment scored 56 on Metacritic for PS4.
PS Plus subscribers appear disenchanted with this month’s selection, according to posts made on Reddit forums. They appear not even bothering to download new free titles when offered this month, some even opting out altogether!
“I will add all three titles to my library but will not download any!” announced MatsGry. Just_Statistician556 stated they could keep them all. Sparescrewdriver responded that while Aliens: Elite Fireteam was decent she may or may not add them all as she doesn’t think “you can never win them all, so maybe there won’t be room in my collection for more”, two out of the three are online multiplayer… You just can’t win them all… said RxBrad who gave up.
At the end of the day, if any of these games intrigue you, don’t hesitate to give them a try; you might just be delighted. Mafia II: Definitive Edition may have improved considerably over time while Aliens: Fireteam Elite may provide enjoyable entertainment among friends if you enjoy watching its respective movie series.
