Hogwarts Legacy fans feel betrayed by snub of awards; call it an injustice

Hogwarts Legacy quickly made headlines upon its release earlier in 2023 and was considered an early candidate for Game of the Year 2023 award. But then came 2023 itself!

Geoff Keighley has successfully elevated The Game Awards into one of the premier video game award ceremonies with their phenomenal hosting role as bestie to Hideo Kojima; creating not only award ceremonies but also exciting announcements.

Recently, The Game Awards 2023 nominations were released with Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 taking the most nominations, prompting some controversy among fanbase as it didn’t include Starfield being short-listed as major gong winner – this decision left some stunned and furious!

Hogwarts Legacy fans were understandably disappointed that it didn’t receive Game of the Year consideration; some even got so upset they started shouting during livestream on Twitch! As reported by Comicbook.com, players are struggling with Hogwarts Legacy not receiving such recognition which some feel amounts to an “injustice”.

“Hogwarts Legacy was completely overlooked for The Game Awards 2023 – what an outrage!” tweeted PeterOvo on Twitter.

“I find it perplexing that Hogwarts Legacy wasn’t even mentioned at The Game Awards 2023!” noted NikTek. “Not only is this game breathtaking in almost every respect; but its RPG elements stand out among Harry Potter games!”

Porshapwr acknowledged, on Twitter: “Look, I understand the association issues surrounding IP, but it is still disappointing that Hogwarts Legacy, developed by several hundred devs who also understand these challenges, will go completely ignored during awards season despite being one of the year’s finest games.”

Hogwarts Legacy is undoubtedly an incredible action RPG for fans of the Wizarding World. It offers engaging storytelling, gorgeous visuals and unforgettable music; yet due to being released so early in 2016, I think its release got lost among what has proven itself as one of the greatest years for video game releases in recent memory, which I find regrettable.

Hogwarts Legacy can now be played across PC, PlayStation(r) 4, XboxOne(r) and Nintendo Switch platforms.
