PlayStation Portal consoles have already begun fetching eye-watering prices at auction houses and resellers alike.
Again, another scalper has come along and ruined everyone else’s fun by getting hold of PlayStation Portal units and offering them for ridiculous prices on eBay – they truly are idiots!
Sony’s newly unveiled PlayStation Portal device enables PS gamers to take their favorite PS5 titles anywhere with them via Remote Play, but has already come under criticism due to an “unplayable level of lag.” Even so, fans still flocking to stores and websites in droves in search of one!
Unfortunately, they will face stiff competition from scalpers whose actions have led to PlayStation Portal becoming unavailable on PlayStation Direct and have caused it to run out. Sony advises customers who wish to purchase it later to return at another date as a precautionary measure.
“Currently out of stock? Don’t worry: our hardworking staff is working to find more products.” This message appears on both UK PlayStation Direct and US stores; in both instances customers should visit them again before early December to recheck.
Scalpers have taken to selling PlayStation Portal at 50% above its retail price on sites such as eBay – this represents an astonishing difference, especially since retail prices sit at $199.99/EUR219.99/PS199.99; though desperate customers might accept these prices.
Given some eBay listings offering PlayStation Portal for as much as PS1,325, it’s clear Sony could never compete with scalpers when it came to selling this console at such high prices. Let us just hope more stock will become available so consumers don’t end up paying ridiculous prices for them!
For those curious about the PlayStation Portal, the Remote Play device requires a PlayStation 5 device in order to access titles, as opposed to Cloud Streaming your own titles from PlayStation Plus.
