EA unintentionally uses modified screenshots on Star Wars Battlefront storefront page

EA may have made an embarrassing error with their store page for Star Wars Battlefront (2015). Though no news about the franchise had surfaced recently, EA managed to keep their store page looking updated by mistakenly using screenshots taken from various mods for display on it.

At first, it was reported on Reddit to show how both EA’s website and PC launcher displayed images not taken directly from the base game but from two mods created by creator Spifferino.

OpoChano points out in his thread on Reddit that EA used at least one screenshot by Spifferino from Nexus Mods that showed his white Shore Trooper texture mod.” However, its hard to tell what actually happened as all images come directly from NexusMods and may or may not reflect reality.

Some Redditors speculate this might have happened due to an employee unaware of the game searching Google images to use on company pages despite accessing hundreds of stored ones locally. Screenshots have already been displayed there; you may still see them now if you visit.

Another user, u/jayL21 highlights just how severe the discrepancy is by noting: “It appears they simply uploaded random cinematic screen grabs of Star Wars Battlefront (2015) from cinematics – for instance the 2nd image (on this page) being an obvious case – rather than images you would normally use for store pages.”

“It appears someone was playing around with cinematic tools, with three out of the five pictures depicting Scarif – which doesn’t feature in the base game – while Vader in one photo wasn’t even holding his lightsaber! Hopefully EA takes care to update this quickly.”
