Lord Of The Rings: Gollum officially is the worst game of 2023
2023 can certainly be described as one of the finest years for video game releases in recent memory, boasting multiple games that could earn them Game of the Year accolades.
2023 has produced some memorable titles such as Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 that truly stand out among others – but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been some duds either! Unfortunately. 2023 certainly doesn’t lack its share of bad games!
Unfortunately, we’ve witnessed numerous duds such as Skull Island: Rise of Kong and The Walking Dead: Destinies (both published by GameMill Entertainment) along with Redfall as examples of below par games released this year. Another embarrassing game to come from 2023 was The Lord of the Rings: Gollum which at this writing has garnered the worst game award according to Metacritic with critic score of 34 and user score of only 1.2! Yikes!
“Play as Gollum on his journey to recover his Precious. Ascend the mountains of Mordor and sneak around Mirkwood while making challenging choices – will Gollum or Smeagol emerge victorious?” reads the game description.
Daedalic Entertainment decided not to develop more games after The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was such a commercial failure; thus they turned their focus towards publishing instead. Still, that has not stopped it being included as part of a PS Plus Trial; perhaps in hopes that consumers might give into temptation and part with some cash? Surely some sort of Cave Troll must exist somewhere?
If for whatever reason you wish to purchase The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, it can be found across PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch platforms. PS Plus Premium subscribers who crave challenge may opt instead to download its free trial instead.
2024 will surely bring surprises – who knows if we’ll see an array of amazing and awful games – or nothing at all – though one thing’s certain, we won’t get The Lord of the Rings: Gollum sequel!
