Bethesda recently detailed Starfield’s end of year update as part of their massive end of year update plan for 2016.
The New Year marks a time to reflect and make change; Bethesda won’t be giving up meat or setting limits but rather updating Starfield with significant updates that include significant gameplay modifications.
Starfield has had an eventful first year since it launched last September, from being called boring to being ignored at Game Awards 2023 – though, ultimately, its ambitious marketing efforts failed to produce results as advertised.
Bethesda seems keen on rectifying its mistakes; though they won’t admit as such. Their end-of-year outline promises updates every six weeks with major revisions taking place sometime around February.
On Reddit, Bethesda posted a brief overview of planned changes with links to full details for people to review at their leisure – perhaps as we all settle in after Christmas dinner and prepare to sleep soundly?
As would be expected, fans have made some additional notes regarding the City Maps update. “Please add filters similar to Google Maps onto the star map so I can easily identify where shipyards or settlements I have visited are located – instead of having to rely on an outside website,” wrote one player in response to it.
“How about creating an easy way to access the properties you own quickly? Owning properties may only serve to confuse and frustrate residents if reaching them takes 20 minutes or longer – even when remembering how.” retorted someone. They then added, tongue in cheek: “Take some cues from Skyrim…”
Skyrim casts an insurmountable shadow over Starfield. But who knows; perhaps Starfield could experience something similar to Cyberpunk 2077’s comeback and become something we all adore…? Though unlikely, stranger things have happened!
