Skyrim players agree only heartless monsters kill Paarthurnax in Skyrim.
Every few weeks, I write about how brutal some Skyrim players can be, so it is reassuring that there are players out there who place more importance on life than death.
I refer, of course, to players who choose not to kill Paarthurnax — an old and noble dragon I do not feel should even be considered an option for killing — just as we remember those who maimed and murdered Miriel from Elden Ring and may never forgive those responsible. Legendary blood will always remain stainful.
As mentioned previously, killing Paarthurnax is optional; however, depending on which faction you wish to align yourself with, it could dramatically change your character’s course. Unfortunately, not all gamers were aware of this when first starting Skyrim; one disappointed gamer lamented, “During my initial playthrough, I didn’t realise this option existed and killed Paarthurnax in error; once killed his corpse would show up when fast travelling through Rift region fast travel. His ghost began haunting my way!”
Once you kill an exquisite creature, its ghost will likely haunt your every move – the cost of being an unexpected villain! I don’t mind you killing random NPCs with nothing in return aside from coins – however, killing something such as a dragon crosses an unnecessary threshold of horror and should be handled accordingly.
Unbelievably, some among us opt to kill Paarthurnax every time! “Honestly, I pretty much always kill him if I manage to complete my main quests,” revealed one Redditor.
Before anyone uses the logic “Would your character do it? If yes, go for it”, as one so-called fan put forward, that is inexcusable. No matter your character’s arc or journey, they should never attempt to kill a wise dragon-like Paarthurnax; that hill I will die on is unacceptable.
Your choice in how you play Skyrim lies solely with yourself; just know that killing an avoidable creature could result in you having your gamer badge removed.
