Marvel Rivals Introduces Stricter Penalties for Leaving Ranked Matches Early
*Marvel Rivals* has quietly rolled out harsher penalties for players who leave ranked matches early, extending lockout periods and making it more difficult to return to the game. While the development team has not officially announced these changes, players have started reporting longer wait times before they can rejoin matches.
In *Marvel Rivals*, casual modes typically allow players to hop in and out without significant consequences. However, ranked matches are more serious, and early departures can negatively impact the rest of the team, resulting in a potential rank drop. Traditionally, players who leave ranked matches early face a 15-minute lockout. But one player, posting on Reddit, reported that the penalty now begins as soon as the game is booted up rather than when the system is shut off.
This change was not noted in the March 27 patch notes, which also included bug fixes and an April Fool’s Easter egg. While some players welcome the stricter penalties to prevent desertion, others are concerned about the impact on players who leave due to technical issues like crashes or disconnections.
The debate continues as the community shares differing opinions on how best to handle early quitters in *Marvel Rivals*.
