FromSoftware Confirms Continued Focus on Single-Player Games
FromSoftware’s President, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has reassured fans that the studio will continue to focus on single-player games, despite recent announcements of multiplayer titles like *The Duskbloods*. The studio, known for its highly successful single-player games such as *Dark Souls*, *Bloodborne*, *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*, and *Elden Ring*, sparked concern among fans after revealing two multiplayer games in quick succession.
At the 2024 Game Awards, FromSoftware introduced *Elden Ring Nightreign*, a co-op roguelike, followed by *The Duskbloods*, an upcoming multiplayer Souls-like exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2. These announcements led to worries that the studio might be shifting away from its traditional single-player roots.
In response, Miyazaki clarified that while *The Duskbloods* is an online multiplayer game, the studio remains committed to single-player experiences. He emphasized that the development of multiplayer titles like *The Duskbloods* and *Elden Ring Nightreign* does not signal a shift away from single-player games, with future projects still focused on that direction.
Fans can look forward to *Elden Ring Nightreign* releasing on May 30, 2025, and *The Duskbloods* will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Despite the multiplayer focus of these titles, FromSoftware’s commitment to single-player games remains strong, ensuring that future projects will cater to those fans as well.
