New Tariff Changes Could Benefit Nintendo Switch 2 Pricing and Pre-Orders

Recent tariff changes announced by US President Donald Trump could be good news for gamers eager to purchase the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. With the reduction of tariffs on imports from most countries, including Vietnam (where the Switch 2 is manufactured), the price of the new console could remain at its originally planned price points.

After the Nintendo Direct event, the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 was confirmed at $449.99 for the base model and $499.99 for the bundled version with Mario Kart World. However, concerns arose when tariffs were imposed on products imported from countries like Vietnam, affecting the Switch 2’s pricing.

Trump recently announced a reduction in tariffs for most countries, except for China, which will see tariffs increase to 125%. The tariff rate for countries like Vietnam, which previously faced a 47% tariff, has now been lowered to 10% for 90 days. This reduction could make it easier for Nintendo to maintain the current pricing for the Switch 2.

Despite the tariff changes, Nintendo recently delayed Switch 2 pre-orders in the United States, originally set for April 9, and it’s unclear when they will reopen.

While it remains uncertain how the tariffs will ultimately affect the price, the recent decision may lessen the expected increase. Gamers are advised to wait for an official statement from Nintendo for further details.
