Sonic Rumble Set to Launch on May 8
Sonic the Hedgehog fans can finally mark their calendars for May 8, the official launch date for *Sonic Rumble*. Developed by Rovio Entertainment, the studio behind *Angry Birds*, this marks their first Sonic game following Sega’s acquisition of the company in 2023. *Sonic Rumble* will be available on Windows, Android, and iOS devices, blending Sonic’s iconic characters with the chaotic multiplayer battle royale gameplay seen in games like *Fall Guys*.
Originally announced in May 2024, *Sonic Rumble* was available in a closed beta and faced delays, with the full release initially expected between late 2024 and early 2025. Now, fans can look forward to its global launch on May 8, 2025. A new gameplay trailer reveals some exciting content, including Dr. Eggman playing with a diorama of Sonic and his friends, and a giant Chopper Badnik obstacle that players must overcome.
One key feature that has fans excited is that *Sonic Rumble* will not include any pay-to-win or gacha mechanics, a departure from many free-to-play titles. Pre-launch registrations have been available since December 2024, and limited-time bonus cosmetics will be returning after the full release.
Fans of Sonic can also look forward to *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds*, set to launch later this year.
