Breath of the Wild Switch 2 Edition Won’t Include DLC, Nintendo Confirms

Nintendo has officially confirmed that *The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild* Switch 2 Edition will not include the game’s two DLC packs—*The Master Trials* and *The Champions’ Ballad*. The announcement has left many fans disappointed, especially those hoping the upgraded version would come as a complete package.

During the April 2 showcase, Nintendo revealed that both *Breath of the Wild* and *Tears of the Kingdom* will receive enhanced versions for the upcoming Switch 2. These editions will feature higher resolution, better frame rates, and improved load times. However, fans quickly noticed the lack of information about included DLC—and now it’s clear why.

Nintendo told IGN that the *Breath of the Wild* Switch 2 Edition will be sold separately from its DLC. Players who already own the game will need to pay $9.99 for the upgrade. To access the full experience with both DLCs, they’ll need to purchase the $20 Expansion Pass, pushing the total to nearly $30 for returning players. For new players, the full game with all content could cost as much as $90.

While the upgraded version offers improved load speeds and minor gameplay enhancements like a navigation tool and added lore, many fans feel the lack of bundled DLC doesn’t justify the cost. With *Breath of the Wild* considered one of the Switch’s top titles, and its DLC highly praised, the decision has sparked renewed debate about Nintendo’s next-gen upgrade strategy.

It remains to be seen how this will impact sales when the Switch 2 launches in June.
