Borderlands 4 Adds Major Co-Op, Loot, and Quality-of-Life Upgrades

Gearbox Software has revealed exciting new details about *Borderlands 4*, showcasing several improvements to co-op, loot systems, and overall gameplay ahead of its September launch.

At PAX East and during a recent State of Play, Gearbox confirmed that *Borderlands 4* will feature a fully revamped co-op lobby. Players can now drop in and out of games at any time without needing to gather in a single location. A new fast-travel-to-friends feature allows players to instantly teleport to teammates, making exploration more seamless across the game’s large, semi-open world.

Couch co-op fans will be happy to hear that split-screen multiplayer is also returning. Additionally, level scaling ensures fair combat for teams with different player levels, and instanced loot will prevent players from grabbing gear meant for others.

On the loot side, *Borderlands 4* will reduce legendary drop rates and scale loot frequency to make powerful items feel more meaningful. Grenades and launchers now use cooldowns instead of ammo and no longer occupy weapon slots, freeing up inventory space.

With these fan-requested changes, *Borderlands 4* is shaping up to be a smoother, more balanced co-op experience.
