Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Confirmed for Console Release with Cross-Play
SEGA has officially announced that *Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.* will be coming to home consoles, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The news was shared during the recent *Virtua Fighter Direct* presentation by producer Seiji Aoki.
Originally released earlier this year on PC, *Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.* features rollback netcode for smoother online matches. The console versions will also support cross-play, allowing players across platforms to compete online. While no specific release date was revealed, the confirmation marks the franchise’s first return to Xbox since *Final Showdown* in 2020 and its first multi-platform console release since *Ultimate Showdown* in 2021.
The *Virtua Fighter* series, once a trailblazer in 3D fighting games, appears to be gaining new momentum. With *R.E.V.O.* heading to consoles and a new mainline entry in development, SEGA is clearly planning a strong comeback for the classic franchise.
