Bungie Responds to Backlash with Major Changes to Destiny 2’s Rite of the Nine
Bungie has announced major updates to Destiny 2’s Rite of the Nine event following player backlash over timegating issues and a confusing dungeon rotation schedule.
Originally set on a three-week rotation, the Rite of the Nine dungeon schedule caught players off guard when Spire of the Watcher appeared again unexpectedly. In response, Bungie is now moving to a two-week rotation. Starting May 20, the featured dungeon will be Ghosts of the Deep, followed by Prophecy on June 3. Additionally, players will see increased drops of Nonary Manifold currency, used to purchase new weapons.
More improvements are on the way. By June 17, all three Rite of the Nine dungeons will be available at any time and difficulty, with boosted currency and weapon drop rates. Then, on July 8, Bungie will launch a “lootapalooza” event featuring double rewards across all three dungeons and new ways to use Nonary Manifold.
These swift changes have been met with praise from the Destiny 2 community, with many surprised by Bungie’s fast response. Alongside these adjustments, Bungie also introduced the new Heavy Metal Crucible event, a unique vehicle-only PvP mode featuring tanks and brigs.
Overall, it’s been a promising few weeks for Destiny 2 fans, with Bungie showing a renewed focus on listening to player feedback.
