Twitch Tests New Picture-in-Picture Ad Format During Streams
Twitch is currently experimenting with a new way of displaying ads during live streams. The platform is testing a picture-in-picture format that allows ads to appear muted in a small window while the main stream remains the focus. This feature would let viewers continue watching content uninterrupted, with the option to unmute the ads if desired.
This new ad format is part of Twitch’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience while also testing new features. One such experiment is the Treasure Train, a variant of the popular Hype Train, offering perks like discounted Tier 1 subscription bundles when the Treasure Train reaches Level 5.
While reactions to the new ad format are mixed, it could provide a more seamless experience for viewers. However, it’s unclear if this will replace the current ad system or run alongside it. Additionally, Twitch has announced that any Highlights and Uploads from channels exceeding its new 100-hour threshold will be deleted after May 19, prompting content creators to download any content they wish to keep.
With these changes, many Twitch users remain hopeful for further improvements on the platform.
