Amazon’s New World has been delayed numerous times since 2020. However, it seems that the September 28 release date announced by Amazon in August will hold. The open beta will be available for testing Sept. 9-12, Amazon announced during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live broadcast.

In July, a closed beta was held. Due to problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, delays in New World started in April 2020. New World for Windows PC is an MMO where players can colonize a fictional continent somewhere along the Atlantic Ocean. In massive fights, players can team up in small groups of 50.

Amazon Game Studios announced the game for the first time at TwitchCon 2016 alongside two other PC games, Breakaway (which was cancelled) and Crucible (which was released but then removed from sale before it was finally stopped.

Gamescom continues this week. However, Microsoft held a preshow event Tuesday where it announced Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Xbox Game Pass.
