Axiom Verge 2 launches on Switch, PC, and PS4 today
Axiom Verge 2 is now available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
The long-awaited sequel to 2015 Metroidvania by Tom Happ will be available Wednesday at the Nintendo eShop and Epic Games Store. Axiom Version 2 was shown at Wednesday’s Indie World Showcase with a new trailer (above).
The first Axiom verge features a researcher named Trace who wakes up from an alien world’s laboratory accident. The player plays Trace and explores the glitchy landscape while repairing code in order to progress through each level.
Axiom verge 2 was first announced at an Indie World presentation in 2019. It was originally planned to launch in fall 2020. It was delayed twice, the most recent in May. The launch window for this year’s third quarter was given.
Happ remains the main developer of the project. It took him five years for the first Axiom verge to be completed. It was originally a PlayStation 4 title when it was launched in 2015. Later, the game was port to Wii U and Switch in 2016.
Happ published a documentary on the creation of the first game in 2017. It was made available for free via IGN in May 2017.
