Free Games: This Week’s Best Titles

Remember last Wednesday when I suggested Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc as part of my free games section? It was worth a try! What did you think? Let’s say that it was a struggle for me to get away from the screen and to stop looking into the strange murder school I was being dropped into to write this week’s game recommendations.

Don’t worry, though. It was possible. Here’s the scoop on the freebies you need to grab this week. Danganronpa will take up the next 25 hours of my day, but it looks like I’ll have a hard time keeping my hands off of the latest batch.

Here are the top games on your subscriptions this week.

Daemon X Mana

DaemonX Machina can be purchased for FREE on Epic Games Store.

What would you think of piloting a gigantic mech and surviving the post-apocalypse while battling through mountainous enemies? This game is sure to please if you find it appealing.

You might find this description appealing to you, so go check out the trailer. The music is loud and intense, the action is wild, and you have to fight mechs larger than your giant mech. This game was not available in my teens. Although Armored Core could have been my set to return following Elden Ring’s release, this should suffice for now.

Paparazzi Pokemon Snapchat, but with dogs. Dogs should have their pictures taken. I know mine does because he is so adorable. You own a camera. Your job in Pupperazzi consists of photographing all dogs.

It’s free to play on Xbox or PC Game Pass. This is a cute little game that you can grab and play in a matter of minutes.

Although it is no longer fashionable to refer to dogs as ‘puppies’, it is still common.

Jammin’

Windjammers has become a little known classic. It was released on the Neo Geo in 1994. I have never played it. It was only three years before I was born. Now is the time for young ‘uns, Windjammers2 is available.

We have the perspective of an experienced veteran who was there when the Windjammers first hit the arcades. In his review, Mike gave Windjammers2 an 8/10 rating and said it was well worth a try.

“Windjammers 2 doesn’t require a lot of skill to master, and the arcade mode has three difficulty levels that allow you to progress at your own pace. Local one-on-one play can be a great way to make mistakes, learn from them, and you’ll have the pleasure of getting to rub your opponent’s nose when you win.

To be fair, that sounds pretty good. It’s doubly impressive when you consider that it’s free on Xbox One and PC Game Pass. Subscribers can simply hit the download button to get it and start playing it right away. What are you waiting for? Except for my frisbee, which I threw into the neighbour’s garden, can you ask for it back, please

Death’s Door

Ewan described the Death’s Door experience as “a near-perfect adventure”. This is a high compliment. It’s a great thing.

For this article, it’s FREE on Xbox and PC Game Pass. This should suffice to convince you. If you find it difficult to please me, I will explain the concept.

It’s an old-school Zelda meets Dark Souls game where you play the role of a crow who must go around collecting the souls and bodies of the dead. Honesty is the best. However, if your soul is taken, you will need to fight your way through a realm uninhabited by death.

Acid Nerve is a new adventure game that feels fresh and innovative, even if it’s not wholly revolutionary. In contrast, other adventure games often fall into mediocrity due to the weight of their influences. Although I’ve seen most of Death’s Door’s offerings elsewhere, it’s scarce to find something this great. This is a clear contender for Game Of The Year and one that you won’t want to miss.”

It sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

Broken Sword 5 / Credit: Revolution Software

Broken Sword 5 On Xbox Live

It’s actually on Xbox Games with Gold, but I couldn’t resist the rhyme.

You can download Broken Sword 5 The Serpent’s Curse from February 1st to February 28th. This is the entire month!

This game is for those who like point-and-click adventure games. This is a detective adventure featuring your two characters as they chase down a stolen painting to uncover a deeper layer beneath.

Broken Sword 5, The Serpent’s Curse may be a favourite of someone who loved Grim Fandango as well as Thimbleweed park.

Ready

Amazon Prime Gaming subscribers are also in luck. The February lineup features five games. These include arcade-style games like Golazo! Soccer League and grand strategies that I cannot even imagine understanding like Stellaris’s. The complete list of Prime games this month is available here:

  • Ashwalkers: An Survival Journey
  • Golazo! Soccer League
  • Stellaris
  • Double Kick Heroes
  • As Far As the Eye

I hope you find enough to get you through the week. You don’t have to worry if you don’t get your freebie. There are always more! Keep your eyes peeled right here, and I’ll return next week with more bangers to get your teeth into.

You have a lot to do in February. I have been experiencing achy back since I woke up. So, I have been doing daily resistance band work to help. This seems like a temporary solution, but does anyone have any suggestions?

Suppose you don’t like the games this week, play HITMAN. It’s the best. We look forward to seeing you again.
