After Sexual Assault Allegations, Mason Greenwood has been removed from FIFA 22
EA Sports has removed Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United forward, from all offline FIFA 22 versions. EA Sports has removed Mason Greenwood from all offline versions of FIFA 22. He is now not included in Manchester United’s squad. After Greenwood was arrested on Sunday 30 Jan after photos and videos were posted on Instagram by a woman accusing her of rape and assault. Since then, her account has been deleted.
The police released the following statement after the arrest:
Greater Manchester Police was notified earlier today that a woman had posted online images and videos about incidents of physical violence. After an investigation, we confirmed that a man in his 20s was arrested for rape and assault. For questioning, he remains in custody. “Enquiries continue.”
Manchester United had already suspended Greenwood’s participation in matches and training “until further notice” shortly before his arrest. The club stated that it doesn’t condone violence of any type and is aware of the allegations and images that circulate on social media.
FIFA 22 has released a new squad update for PlayStation 4 and Xbox series X/S, Xbox One, and Computer. This update, which went life today (1 Feb), removed Greenwood’s likeness. Greenwood wouldn’t be able to play in the game after this update unless he was saved in Career Mode. He will no longer be available for selection.
Greenwood’s image is still visible on his Ultimate Team card. These cards are still available for purchase on the trading marketplace and can be bought with real money. The card’s price on the trading market increased by more than 30% after the allegations. It is not known if this card will be removed at any later date.
