HBO’s “The Last Of Us” isn’t coming this year after all
Does it seem like there are so many games-to-screen adaptations these days? Uncharted was released in UK cinemas last Friday. We also found out that the Halo television series has been confirmed to air a second season before the first. The upcoming The Last of Us series is the one that is getting the most attention online.
The series will follow the story of the 2013 game in which Joel has to escort Ellie across America with the hopes of finding a cure to the Cordyceps virus. Joel will be played by Pedro Pascal ( Mandalorian), and Ellie will be played by Bella Ramsey ( Game of Thrones).
The Last of Us was a brilliantly written game. It is one of our favorite opening sequences in gaming. It’s available below, along with other choices.
Many people had hoped that the show would be on our screens this year. However, it has now been confirmed. Interview with Deadline: HBO and HBO Max’s Chief Content Officer, Casey Bloys, revealed that it would be at least next to next year before the show airs.
It won’t air in 2022; they are still filming in Canada. He said that he believes you’ll see it in “20”23.” “I’ve seen some episodes, so I’m excited. […] Craig Mazin did Chernobyl; he’s a great writer and director. It looks incredible from what I have seen, so I am excited about it. But it won’t be in [20]22.”
HBO is known for many iconic series, but Game of Thrones is perhaps the most famous. Bloys quickly dismissed the notion that The Last of Us could be as good as it. He stated that “there is no next Game of Thrones.” “I’ve been here for a long time enough to know what the next Sopranos is and what’s [the] Game of Thrones. Now, what’s [the] Succession. There is no Game of Thrones.
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are producing the series. The latter is also the writer and director of the 2013 game. Druckmann will also be directed at most one episode, so you can be sure that it’s going to be great. The trailer for the adaptation is still in development, so it may be some time before we see it. Waiting is a good thing.
