New PlayStation Plus, 700+ Games and Three Subscription Tiers Announced.
It’s here. After months of speculation and rumours, Sony finally revealed the first details about its revamped PlayStation Plus subscription service.
According to reports, the all-new PlayStation Plus (previously codenamed Spartacus) is a multi-tiered service that offers different perks depending on how much you pay each month. Higher tiers provide free first-party game trials (similar to EA Play) and access to the PlayStation Now library. The other subscription service will be absorbed into PlayStation Plus as part of the revamp.

PlayStation Plus consists of three tiers: Essential, Extra (PS11), and Premium (PS13.49).
Before we get into the details: Premium offers a free trial for first-party titles, access to classic games, and the ability to play most of the games available via the PlayStation Now library. PlayStation Plus is PlayStation Plus with PlayStation Now embedded. Essential is your regular PS Plus, which includes monthly free games, online play, discounts, etc.
As mentioned above, Essential subscribers will continue to enjoy the PS Plus benefits that they have come to expect with no price change. If you wish to upgrade to the Extra tier, you will get all the help and “up to 400” of the best PS4 or PS5 games. These games are a mixture of first- and third-party games that can be downloaded.
Premium is the most exciting tier. It offers all the benefits of Essential and Extra but also includes 340 games from the “original PlayStation 2, PS2 and PSP generations.” These classic titles will now be available through cloud streaming on PS4, PS5, and PC.
PlayStation Plus has made significant advancements with the new Premium and Extra tiers. These tiers are designed to ensure that the hundreds of games that we offer have the highest quality content. This is what sets us apart. Sony writes that we will include titles like Death Stranding and God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal at launch.”
