The ‘Battlefield 2042’ Player Count Has Just Hit An Abject New Low
EA/ have worked hard to save Battlefield. Things have only gotten worse since its November release. While some bugs and glitches have been fixed, many people still aren’t happy with the game. Despite promises on dev blogs that significant changes and improvements were on the horizon, player numbers have been declining fast for several months.
Things have fallen further than ever before. ComicBook reported that the game broke a new record for its concurrent Steam player count… the lowest it has ever seen. These figures make it seem impossible to believe how long it will take for people to be able to find matches.
This number was found on Steam Charts. It showed that the game had finally dropped to triple-digit territory and fell below 1000 players for its first time. Yesterday’s game saw 976 players at any one time, which is quite sad.
This number does not include PC players. There will be more console gamers, but it’s impossible to know for sure. It is important to remember that the game reached its peak at 100,590 concurrent users on Steam just around the time it was released. How many received a refund?
The devs have not given up on trying to make Battlefield2042 better, but it’s not going down well. Last week, EA asked players for feedback about the game on their forums. caused a lot of frustration. Many people took this opportunity to request fixes and adjustments to the problems plaguing the game from the beginning. However, they were even more agitated when the reply was that “these items are being reviewed but there are no active development plans for them yet”.
The halving of the 128-player lobby is one of the major changes being looked at. This might be a necessity, given the low player count.
