Many feel as if there’s been a Call of Duty update every year. Before the annual pattern stops, we have to go back to 2005’s CoD2. Before the annual pattern halts, we have to go back as far as CoD2 in 2005. Call of Duty Modern Warfare2 will be returning in 2022.
With players using a mix of current and older generation consoles, whether a game is cross-gen has been a frequent topic in recent years. CoD: MW2 will get the same cross-gen support as previous titles. Modern Warfare 2 will most likely be a cross-platform title. However, crossplay is still unknown.

Although nothing has been announced, the franchise has many cross-platform titles, and some even feature crossplay. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is cross-platform for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

Crossplay is a feature that will likely be included in the new MW. Crossplay is a feature that has been used in a variety of CoD titles. Everyone wins, with the option to turn it off. There is still some uncertainty about whether cross-gen support will be available and if there will be any problems with the new engine, but this is unlikely.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be cross-gen?
Tom Henderson, a well-known leaker in CoD, claims that Modern Warfare II will soon be available for all console generations.
Call of Duty and Vanguard were both cross-gen titles, so we can assume Tom is right. This is not something I would accept as fact. Tom even stated that the outcome would depend on the market. Uncertainty could be caused by the Infinity Wards tweet “A new generation of Call of Duty,” which was misinterpreted by some to mean that the latest Call of Duty title would only be available for the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.
It is easy to imagine Modern Warfare 2 would be released on the Xbox One and PS4 regardless of its power and potential. Is this a sign that the next gen is being delayed? Activision treats money like money. It is easy to assume that they will make the game as simple as possible. However, we hope that they do more with the latest title and demonstrate the engine’s full potential.
