First Look at Netflix’s Sonic Prime Shows the Hedgehog With a New Voice Actor
It is not surprising to see Sonic the Hedgehog regain its status as an IP with more good than bad. Sonic Frontiers is coming later in the year, and there is excitement about the new Sonic movie. There are also viral memes on Twitter. It seems that the speedster is ready for a cultural revolution. Sonic will be returning to the TV screen, where he was successful in his previous roles.
This is Netflix’s first glimpse at Sonic Prime, a new CG series available on the streaming service. Although the show was first announced in January, concept art leaked before its official announcement indicated that it is a multiverse concept that centres on Sonic(s) and multiple versions of his arch-nemesis. Today’s first clip was part of a package reel that included upcoming animated Netflix shows.
Sonic-loving Eagle-eared Sonic fans may notice a slight change in his voice. Deven Mack will play the role of the hedgehog, which is a departure from previous voice castings for Sonic. Although the clip doesn’t show much of Sonic, Mack sounds like Sonic.
Despite a popular excursion in Sonic Boom, the hedgehog’s best-known television appearances were from a pair of cartoons in the mid-90s. Sega has been awkward since the last few Sonic games were not popular and are no longer a favourite. Sonic will remain a videogame character, but he may become more well-known for his entertainment media than the games.
