A New Just Cause Game Is Being Made, Says Developer
When you think Square Enix the first series that spring to mind are likely to Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. While all of these are great, they tend to be overshadowed by some of the other greats of the publisher.
It’s not necessary to make it mysterious, as it’s in the headline. I’m talking just cause. In 2006, the first game in this series was released on PC and PS2 original Xbox and Xbox 360. It was an excellent open-world action-adventure game. We’ve had three more sequels to the series, the latest being released in 2018. Square Enix has now offhandedly confirmed the release of a new installment.
PC Gamer reported that the news was made public in a monthly financial results briefing. You can find the document. This document details Square Enix’s $300 million sale of certain IP and studios. It also clarifies their future plans.
Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda wrote that “[The transaction]’s primary purpose was to restructure our portfolio.” “We mainly reviewed our title and studio portfolios in expanding our online offerings of titles for the North American market and Europe. We will be focusing on new titles in line with our strategy. We will continue to protect the JUST CAUSE IP and are currently developing a new title within the franchise.
It’s official! A new title is currently in development. Keep in mind that we knew that a mobile Just Cause title was coming and that it would be released this year. However, it has been officially announced and given a name (albeit it is Just Cause), so it would be odd not to mention that this is the game they mean and not an entirely new game. There have been other strange things, but please be cautious with the hype.
