GTA 6 May Have Series’s First Female Protagonist
This week has been an excellent week for GTA gamers, with an update to Online dropping yesterday and details about the highly anticipated GTA6 emerging today.
The latest information about the next series entry is based on a report by Jason Schreier from Bloomberg. It not only gives glimpses into the title but also talks about an ongoing overhaul at Rockstar Games.
The report’s headline is the announcement that the game will feature the series’ first female protagonist and take place primarily within a fictional Miami.
Here’s what the current situation is looking like for the next GTA game
Schreier says that the female lead will be a Latina. According to Schreier’s sources, “the woman, who happens to be Latina, will be one among a pair of leading characters in the story influenced by the bank robbers Bonnie & Clyde.”
He also stated that the inclusion is in conjunction with efforts by developers not to include satirical humour intended to target “marginalized groups”. This change from previous GTA games coincided with Rockstar’s efforts to transform itself into a more progressive and compassionate workplace following allegations of it having a culture of “boys’ clubs” and using too much development crunch.
