Battlefield 2042 developer acknowledges it will never have an auspicious debut
Battlefield 2042 ranks as one of the worst gaming releases ever released on PC and console platforms, and we can expect more unexpected issues to arise during its lifespan.
By now, most people know the tale – when the game first released it was full of bugs and glitches (some hilarious), as well as missing much-anticipated content that had originally been planned for release. As soon as its debut took place player numbers quickly declined significantly while many fans considered the experience something of a failure; since its launch however developers have addressed many issues related to player experience; unfortunately it appears unlikely it can shed its negative reputation completely anytime soon.
Behold some of the funniest wins and fails from Battlefield 2042 below.
As it turned out, developers anticipated such criticism well before Battlefield 2042 even made its debut. Per PSU reports, Joakim Bodin who previously worked at DICE before moving over to Epic Games as senior backend engineer recently tweeted about how Battlefield 2042 “never stood much chance” upon its initial release.
He wrote to respond to a Twitter thread of developers sharing what they love most about their lowest-reviewed games, where people were sharing what makes their least liked titles great at launch. While admitting the limitations of his creation were undue to time constraints and deadline commitments, “This game had many iterations, yet the deadline never altered significantly – hence never stood much chance of becoming truly awesome at launch,” he was proud of having worked so hard towards providing full cross play, progression, commerce capabilities for future titles as part of its legacy systems that will serve future titles well!
Unfortunately, this situation has proven unfortunate; hopefully lessons were learned by the developers for when their next installment in this franchise arrives for release. Let us hope they take more care next time around!
