Shadowlands Remain on Track to Be World Of Warcraft’s Most Successful Expansion In 10 Years
Activision Blizzard recently reported in their Q3 earnings call that World of Warcraft remains on track to becoming their most successful expansion over the last ten years, such as Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor Legion and Battle for Azeroth.
Even amid considerable criticism surrounding the expansion, players seem to remain committed and today’s launch of patch 9.1.5 could bring even more people back into the game.
“World of Warcraft reach and engagement continues to benefit from combining its Modern game with Classic under a single subscription plan. World of Warcraft is on track for its strongest engagement and net bookings outside a Modern expansion year in ten years; read financial results.”
Blizzard may choose “outside a modern expansion year” as their stat, however it should be understood as more impressive given World of Warcraft is currently behind on its patch cycle and players are experiencing content drought.

With no official word from Blizzard on when Patch 9.2 can be expected or its future plans for Shadowlands expansion, players remain eagerly awaiting to hear of any further plans for their favorite MMO game.
Blizzcon Online 2022 may have been postponed but game announcements should still come soon with no clear timeline attached to them.
Blizzard saw its sales increase 20% year-on-year thanks to Diablo II: Resurrected’s launch, yet World of Warcraft remains their flagship franchise.
